H₂ converters · BESS
Converters for
H₂ and BESS.
Power conversion for hydrogen production and energy storage, for the energy transition. From 2 to 20 MW.

Grid in. Green hydrogen out.
An electrolyser needs stable DC at high current.
The rectifier turns medium-voltage mains into a DC link; a DC-DC chopper regulates the voltage or the current the electrolyser stack demands, up to 1500 V DC. IGBT switching gives high efficiency and low ripple, liquid cooled for high power density. The power electronics CIME has built in Turin since 1952, now evolving for green hydrogen.
Energy storage.
A high-power storage system needs stable DC at high current.

The key points.

Precise DC current control
A DC-DC chopper holds the stack or the batteries at the exact voltage and current, up to 1500 V DC, with low ripple for electrolyser and BESS efficiency and life.
AC-DC + DC-DC
A rectifier turns mains into DC, a chopper regulates it to the stack. IGBT, 2 to 20 MW, input 400 V to 35 kV.
Indoor or outdoor
Indoor cabinets, or outdoor enclosures with conditioning and heating, for plant-room or skid-mounted installation.
Computerized control
Energy logging and diagnostics, ready to interface with the electrolyser or BESS balance of plant and the plant SCADA.
Engineered to your requirements.

Operational questions, straight answers.
What is a converter for electrolysers?
It is a machine built to supply electrolyser stacks, or the batteries of a BESS, with stable DC. A rectifier turns AC mains into DC, then a DC-DC chopper regulates it to the exact voltage or current the stack or the batteries need, up to 1500 V DC.
What if a module fails?
At CIME we keep spare IGBT modules ready, fitted quickly in the event of a fault, so the line keeps running and downtime stays minimal.
What power and DC voltage are available?
From 2 MW to 20 MW, input 400 V to 35 kV, DC output up to 1500 V.
Indoor or outdoor installation?
Both. Indoor plant-room cabinets, or outdoor enclosures with conditioning and heating, for skid-mounted or field installation.
Which loads can it supply?
Electrolysers, batteries and other industrial DC loads.
Is it liquid cooled?
Yes. Liquid cooling gives high power density in a compact enclosure, indoor or outdoor, with full computerized control and diagnostics.
Built around your process.
